wine pHILOsophy

Note: This wine list is intended to serve only as a guide to our in-house copy that is updated daily. Please call or verify upon arrival prices and availability of the selections you are interested in.

Our wine list offers over 1,900 interesting choices to complement your meal, from the classic chateaux of Bordeaux to hard-to-find cult Cabernets and Super Tuscans.


The Wine List at Grill 23 & Bar is comprised of over 1,900 selections. Our mission is to offer our guests increased breadth of selections while still offering wines of a value-oriented nature.

A few domestic highlights of our list are vertical offerings, with some dating back to the late 1960s of Araujo Eisele Vineyard, Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de la Tour, Bond, Caymus Special Selection, Dominus Estate, Heitz Cellars Martha’s Vineyard, Chateau Montelena Estate, Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon, Opus One,  Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Harlan Estate, and Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello.

Another area of extensive focus on our list is Bordeaux. Here we feature all first growths and “super seconds” in all classic vintages back to 1959. In Burgundy we feature many cult producers with 22 offerings from Domaine de la Romanée Conti and strong representation of Comte Georges de Vogüé and many other top producers. In the Rhône we have extensive offerings from E. Guigal, J.L. Chave, Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Château de Beaucastel and Domaine du Pegau to name just a few. In Northern Italy, we are proud to have numerous offerings from Angelo Gaja, Giacomo Borgogno, Giacomo Conterno and Giuseppe Mascarello, as well as mature selections from Masi, Biondi-Santi and many top “Super Tuscans”. In Spain, offerings range from Alvaro Palacios and Clos Erasmus to Vega Sicilia and Lopez de Heredia. To complete the evening we also offer numerous dessert wine, Port, Madeira, and Sherry selections by the glass.

Integral to the success of our wine program is the education of our one hundred person staff. We hold weekly seminars and tastings, with monthly sessions for our staff that cover a broader range of topics.

Our commitment to education and learning has garnered us several awards including: Best Steakhouse by Stuff Boston and Reader’s Choice Best Steakhouse by New England Cable News in 2011. In 2010, Grill 23 was awarded “Best Steakhouse” by The Improper Bostonian and Boston Magazine as well as the Award of Ultimate Distinction by Wine Enthusiast.
